Welcome to the Parent in Training Blog. This is What You’ll Find Here.

I’m Peter Galligan, and I’m a freelance writer from Denver, Colorado. My wife is a child therapist and therapy group practice owner. We have a daughter who was born with spina bifida.

I started this blog to share the lessons I’ve learned and those that I’m still learning about how to show up better for my wife, my daughter, and myself. What that means to me is how to improve my life by:

  • Learning to behave more in line with my values (which are unique to me, as yours are to you)
  • Live a balanced life that includes meaningful activities involving family, work, friends, fitness, and vitally absorbing creative interests
  • Improving my mental and emotional health and well-being through improving my relationships

What I write about:

On this blog, I hope to provide insightful commentary on mental and emotional health, finance (I spent two decades in asset management communications), and parenting. I write about parenting a child with disabilities quite often.

And I may also occasionally post musings on my hobbies, including powerlifting, music production, writing, and home improvement.

I enjoy telling stories, and I like to frame narratives through an interdisciplinary approach, borrowing the theoretical framework of one area and applying it to others.

I believe cohesive, unique narratives change our perspectives and can change the world. I will be offering my digital products and books for sale on this blog as well. If you would like to support the blog, please check them out.

Thanks for reading!
